→ Serving

20 - 4 burger buns, lightly toasted
21 - 1 cup lettuce leaves
22 - 1 medium tomato, sliced
23 - 1/4 small red onion, thinly sliced

# Directions:

01 - Combine Greek yogurt, grated cucumber, dill, garlic, lemon juice, olive oil, salt, and pepper in a medium bowl. Stir thoroughly, cover, and refrigerate until ready to serve.
02 - In a large bowl, combine ground chicken, breadcrumbs, feta, red onion, parsley, garlic, oregano, cumin, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until just incorporated, taking care not to overwork the meat.
03 - Divide the chicken mixture into 4 equal portions. Shape each portion into uniform burger patties approximately 1/2 inch thick.
04 - Heat olive oil in a large skillet or grill pan over medium heat. Place patties in the pan and cook for 5 to 6 minutes per side until golden brown and the internal temperature reaches 165°F.
05 - Layer lettuce leaves on the bottom half of each toasted bun. Add the cooked chicken patty, followed by tomato slices, red onion, and a generous dollop of tzatziki sauce. Top with the remaining bun half and serve immediately.

# Expert Advice:

01 -
  • The feta inside the patties creates little salty bursts of flavor that surprise you with every bite
  • Everything comes together in under 40 minutes but tastes like you spent all afternoon cooking
02 -
  • Ground chicken needs to be cooked to 165°F but will dry out quickly, so remove them promptly when they reach temperature
  • The tzatziki actually tastes better after sitting for an hour, so make it first and let it rest while you prep everything else
03 -
  • Make a double batch of tzatziki, it keeps beautifully in the fridge for up to a week and is perfect with everything from roasted vegetables to pita chips
  • If the patties feel sticky while shaping, wet your hands lightly with cold water and they'll form easily
